Living and working in Graz
The provincial capital of Styria is the second largest city in Austria and has been one of the most future-oriented cities in the world since 2011 (UNESCO City of Design). The large student population also make Graz an open student city with numerous green oases and squares along the Mur River. Graz is also officially known as Austria’s “Capital of culinary delights”. Numerous regional specialities such as the Styrian baked chicken invite you to come and try them.
Infrastructure
The numerous shops in the city centre and a shopping centre with more than 200 shops make Graz a true shopping metropolis. Its own airport, a university hospital and a distinctive tourism industry, existing thanks to the region’s natural character, make Graz a very liveable city.
Culture and leisure
The people of Graz are particularly proud of the historical structures of their Old Town, the Schloßberg and the Eggenberg Castle, which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In addition to these attractions, the city also offers many other attractions such as the Graz Cathedral and the Botanical Gardens. Culture enthusiasts will also get their money’s worth by visiting the Graz Opera House or the Schauspielhaus. Several annual events such as the “Diagonale” film festival and many excursion destinations in the surrounding region of Styria are just waiting to be discovered.
Graz for engineers
Graz is the central living and working space of Styria. Scientific and technical services account for a large share of all employment, making this location particularly appealing to engineers.
